Shot while trying to escape from a PoW camp along with his fellow escapee 1st Lt. Richard Francis Noble, O-453171, of the USAAF (Pilot of 'Lucky Lady, B-17G, SN: 42-9941). According to local residents it was clear that the men had been forced to dig their own graves before being shot between the eyes |
